80 - Stay Inside

We are experiencing unprecedented times. How can we use this time to expand our awareness, evolve our compassion and kindness, and discern through our confusion? The world within us is truly a healer, a teacher, an infinite realm that belongs only to us.

In today's meditation, we practice the mindful art of going within, and "staying inside". Listen ...

79 - Brave New World

My friend Daniel Pohnke died in May. He made a strong impact on my life, during a difficult time. Daniel also helped us get the podcast back on its feet, at a time when we had almost given up on it. Daniel was a world traveler, meditator, songwriter, musician, educator, facilitator, light worker, and coach. His enthusiasm for life was infectious. We release this episode of The Meditation Podcast in honor of Daniel, and in support of his wife and son.

Daniel led me through this meditation five years ago, on an hours-long hike around Griffith Park in Los Angeles. If you would like to learn more about Daniel, and support his family, please feel free to check out these links:

76 - Love Inside Out

It is our human nature to seek love. We want to be seen, encouraged, celebrated. But the love that we receive from others is limited by our capacity to love ourselves. When we begin to accept, encourage, and celebrate ourselves, we become better able to give and receive those same feelings.

In today's meditation, we practice the self-generated, healing light of unconditional love.

75 - Three-Part Breath (Dirga Pranayama)

The Three-part breath is a simple and ancient technique for reducing stress, anxiety, and emotional struggles. Traditionally it is used to regulate life energy, and to clear imbalances in the body mind and spirit. In yoga practices, it is also known as Dirga Pranayama, or Dirga Swasam Pranayama, or rebirthing.

In today's meditation, we practice the three-part full breath. Listen on Patreon ...

74 - New Intentions for the New year

As we enter a new year, and a new decade, we may find ourselves ready to change, to grow, to release the old and to claim the new.

In today's meditation, we create new intentions for the new decade of 2020.

73 - Releasing Discomfort Through Intention

Often the areas of greatest discomfort in our bodies are the areas that require the most attention. Our discomfort may be telling us to slow down, not to worry. It may hold trauma from old injuries, emotional wounds, or regret. One way to release our discomfort, whether physical or emotional, is to simply breathe into it.

In today's meditation, we breathe into our discomfort. We give it our attention, our focus, and our breath. Finally, we invite ourselves to let it go.

72 - Release Vibration

Through meditation, we release tension and focus our minds inward. Through daily practice, we may face opportunities for deeper release, such as chronic tension or old injuries. When we experience fidgeting, difficulty focusing, difficult self-observations, areas of chronic pain or tension, etc., this may be a sign that we are ready for a deeper release.
In today's meditation, we use a simple, self-generated vibration to help realign our subtle energy and to release any areas of tension or stuck-ness. Such releases may feel as simple as a gentle letting go. They may also include emotional release such as laughing, crying, trembling, shaking, or feeling hot or cold. Whatever feelings come up (or don't), our goal is to observe our thoughts and sensations while staying focused on the vibration.

71 - Finding Your True Purpose

When we meet someone who has 'found their purpose', what qualities do we notice? Do they seem to have mastered their craft or occupation? Do they seem joyful and content in their day to day lives? How do we find – and live in – our true purpose? Is it finding the right job, the right career? Is it becoming really 'good' at something? Or is it as simple as learning to remain present?

In today's meditation, we attune ourselves to our deepest thoughts, needs, and desires to find our true purpose. By giving our full attention to this moment – our breath, and our thoughts – we open ourselves to the Universe to give us direction through our inner voice. Listen on Patreon ...

70 - Opening the Heart

We all have the capacity to experience love, through both giving and receiving. But over time past hurts and mistrusts can close our hearts to fully experiencing love. We may carry a fear of being hurt again. In turn, we become selective in how much love we give, and how much love we allow ourselves to receive from others. Restricting our hearts in this way stifles our spiritual growth — and it can even affect the body, including the heart itself.

In this meditation, we learn to open our hearts by removing any walls we may have built. This increases our capacity to give love openly, and receive love without conditions. Listen on Patreon ...

69 - Breathing Through the Body

As we journey through our lives, our bodies experience many forms of stress -- including danger, grief, trauma, anger, and physical injury. When we don't process or release stress it remains inside our bodies, causing tension and restricted breath. Restricted breath in turn deprives the body and blood of oxygen, which can lead to hypertension, weight fluctuation, and all sorts of dis-ease. In today's meditation, we use our own breathing to cleanse our physical and emotional bodies. Using simple extension of the breath and release of the body through breath, we can significantly lower stress for a healthier life and a healthier state of mind. 68 - Stress Relief

We take on stress in many ways. Stress normally originates in a traumatic event or life-death situation. However, simple day-to-day events can also create stress, by triggering memories of trauma and fear.

In today's meditation, we build our capacity to process and release stress. This meditation uses breath work and stillness, to increase awareness of our stress, its sources, and how to let it go.

67 - Releasing Destructive Habits

We are spiritual beings, going through a human experience on this earth. Through this experience, we develop habits that may be detrimental to our spiritual, mental and physical well-being. Eventually, destructive habits become a normal part of our everyday, and we can lose sight of their long term effects.

Examples of destructive habits include alcohol or drug abuse, compulsive eating, nail-biting, self mutilation, belligerence, or rage. We are not interested in judging 'good' or 'bad', but rather examining our own habits and whether they empower us or hold us back from our highest good.

In today's meditation, we learn to release destructive habits, refreshing and renewing ourselves through the powerful energy of Infinite Love and Light.

66 - Processing Pain, Grief, and Anger

In our life journey, we all encounter pain, grief, and anger in various forms. Examples include physical or emotional trauma, ending relationships, death of loved ones, or betrayal by someone we trust. When we don't digest these feelings, they can build upon each other. This can lead us to fear and anxiety, and uncontrolled or unwanted outbursts of emotion. In the long term, we remain stuck in a cycle, repeating the same emotional experiences with new friends, colleagues, partners, or loved ones.

In today's meditation, we access the deep subconscious to process pain, grief, or anger. Using simple techniques, we digest, release, and heal our experiences, and resolve stuck patterns. This allows us to create new and healthier subconscious patterns for present and future relationships.

Note from Producer Jesse: This was released to our Patreon subscribers on April 30, the 2-year anniversary of my mother's death. I experienced a lot of raw emotions coming up over the last few days, compounded by a health scare with my dear cat, and several deep conversations with old friends. I was having trouble processing my emotions, and it took a toll on my work & sleep schedules. I remembered some of the techniques and wisdom I have learned over many years, and put it into this meditation. I hope listening to it helps you as much as creating it has helped me. Peace and blessings. Listen on Patreon ...

65 - Staying Calm in the Storm

Life often confronts us with turmoil, setbacks, bad news, or disappointments. This can occur in world events, our personal relationships, our home, and our careers. It is a natural response to feel and express anger, sadness, or fear. However, when these emotions overwhelm us we may find ourselves thrown off-balance, losing our ability to function or communicate effectively.

In today's meditation, we practice staying calm in the middle of a storm. We learn how to express emotion, sympathy, and empathy, while still retaining our internal peace and effectiveness.

64 - Chi Energy Bath

Do you ever just feel great? Balanced, confident, strong, yet relaxed? What if there was a way to cultivate feeling great? To massage our body, mind, and spirit? Through a simple visualization exercise?

In today's meditation we cultivate our internal energy for physical healing, mental clarity, and emotional resolution. Based on ancient Chinese practices of qigong energy work, we build up our chi, then move it in a gentle cycle through our bodies. This creates a subtle, gentle, and very powerful healing effect that can balance and strengthen all the body's systems and functions. Listen on Patreon ...

63 - Recharge in Your Sacred Space

In today's meditation, we visit our Sacred Space to restore our body, mind, spirit, inspiration, and energy. By simply resting, while in a high vibrational state, we restore our ability to work efficiently, to rest fully, to function in a chaotic world, and to experience our daily lives with full presence and intention.

62 - Recognizing Prosperity

As we start the New Year, many of us seek wealth or prosperity: a raise, a new car, a bigger house. Our goals reflect the desire for more money, more things. However, when we seek material prosperity, it's easy to miss the prosperity we already have – such as our health, our friendships, and family.

In today's meditation, we recognize our present prosperity in areas including – but not limited to – our financial and physical wealth. By acknowledging our current prosperity, we open the door for more blessings to come our way.

60 - Resolving Anger

Our anger has many sources. Trauma, grief, frustration, and shame can all slowly reshape themselves into anger. When unresolved, these complex emotions can become stuck in our minds and bodies, leaving us feeling bitter, ungrateful, unhappy, and sick.

In today's meditation, we address and resolve our anger. Using a timed breathing technique, we shake loose emotions that have become stuck in our bodies, creating space for more useful, creative energy.

Please note: while it is important in this meditation to acknowledge whatever we are feeling, it is not necessary to relive or detail any experience. Listen on Patreon ...

59 - Ears, Sound, Balance

Our ears serve us not only for hearing, listening and communicating; but our inner ears are also the center for balance, equilibrium, and stability. The modern world can be an onslaught of noise, imbalance, and instability. For people, this onslaught may lead to selective hearing, tinnitus, dizziness, and tuning out.

In today's meditation, we receive a healing session for our ears. Through this process, we clear the anxiety and trauma of noise pollution, renew our ability to listen mindfully to the world around us, and retune our inner balance. Listen on Patreon ...

58 - Finding My Truth

Thankfully, many of us are able to get through our day to day lives without major obstacles. But are we thriving? Are we living in our purpose? Are we taking mindful action that brings joy and benefit to ourselves and those around us?

In today's meditation, we journey to our highest Being, our highest Self, to gain a deeper, divine perspective about our lives, our Truth, and our Purpose. Listen on Patreon ...

57 - Preparing for Major Life Events

When preparing for a major life event -- such as surgery, childbirth, marriage, career change, or moving to a new home -- we often experience a mix of excitement, anxiety, and fear of the unknown. We may feel comfortable in our old state of being, even if the new state of being will be much more healthy, happy, productive, and beneficial for us.

In today's meditation, we prepare for a major life event by acknowledging our fears, and surrendering to the unknown. Listen on Patreon ...

56 - Self Love

It is in our nature to want to feel love in our lives. This feeling brings a sense of warmth and security. However, we often look to outside forces and other people for the love that we seek. Our capacity to experience love in relationships is limited by how we love ourselves.

In today's meditation, we simply love, appreciate, and accept ourselves. This increases our capacity to love others, and to experience feeling loved. Listen on Patreon ...

55 - DNA Activation and Healing

In our DNA, we carry the grief, anger, fear, addictions, and physical toxins that belonged to our ancestors. This is one of the most powerful ways that parents pass such afflictions to our children and grandchildren. It can lead us to remain stuck for generations in a cycle of mental imbalance or destructive behavior.

In today's meditation, we cleanse and repair the ancestral DNA, while activating the portions of our DNA that facilitate our health, healing, and evolution of body mind and spirit. Listen on Patreon ...

54 - Intense Cleanse

Intense emotions – such as anger, grief and fear – serve to protect us by putting us in heightened states of awareness. However, once they have served their purpose, we often find it difficult to let go of them. When we can't let go, the experience can leave us feeling traumatized or stuck.

Today's meditation is based on an ancient practice using our breath to connect with and release deeply rooted emotions. As you begin, set an intention to release one specific emotion or attachment to one specific life event. For best effect, practice this meditation regularly, and choose one at a time. Listen on Patreon ...

53 - Empowering the Spirit

We naturally use our five physical senses to interact with the world. However, we can enhance our senses – and our presence in the world – by empowering the spirit within us. In today's meditation, we connect with the Divine source, to empower the Spirit. By recognizing and empowering our spirit, the core of who we are, we can have a better understanding of ourselves – that we are spirits having a human experience. We can then let go of any limitations, and think and move beyond the physical world. Listen on Patreon ...

52 - Intuition Boost

When faced with a decision, we are often told to trust our intuition, to trust our gut. But what should we do when our intuition goes against logic? What should we do when we're not sure what our intuition is telling us? Or even whether it is speaking to us at all? When disconnected from our intuition, we become unsure, insecure, doubtful, stagnant, and stuck. When connected, our intuition protects, motivates, and leads us toward our highest good. In today's meditation, we reconnect with our intuition, that quiet voice inside us. Listen on Patreon ...

51 - Inner Boundary of Protection and Power

Do you feel drained after a long day? Have you ever felt like people bothered you 'too much', or you had trouble saying 'no'? You may need to reset your inner boundary. Without a strong boundary, our life force leaks from us like water from a leaky bucket. Without a strong boundary, anyone can get 'under our skin'. In today's meditation, we reset and strengthen our inner boundary. This helps us to cultivate our own renewable energy and infinite life force, and protects us from the draining influence of others. It can also help us to set personal boundaries in our daily lives. Listen on Patreon ...

49 - Food, Glorious Food!

In many places around the world, winter holidays are a time for feasting. However, as a culture, we surround our food -- and our time for eating -- with guilt and fear. We "grab a bite" and rush through our meals. We eat distractedly, many of us even eating at our desks while working. We tie food to our body image. We act very picky about what is considered "good" or "healthy", and we beat ourselves up for eating "bad" foods. We have destroyed our joy and our enjoyment of eating. In today's meditation, we open our capacity to enjoy a meal, fully present, with all of our senses alive, fully appreciative, and full of joy. Listen on Patreon ...

48 - Recenter, Restore, Recharge

We all get tired sometimes, stressed, and uncertain. Perhaps we've lost our creative drive, our patience or our empathy toward others, or we simply feel out of sorts. 46 - Healing Trauma Part 2 - DNA and Ancestry

Trauma is passed from generation to generation through our DNA, and through subconscious emotional communication, often for several generations. It can affect us deeply, even if we didn't know the person involved. It affects our well being, and can hinder us from experiencing true joy, freedom, and empathy. This is part 2 of our Healing Trauma series. In today's meditation, we go deeper into the release of trauma and anxiety, to explore our ancestral trauma. In doing so, we heal the ancestral aspect that resides within us. This also re-opens the subconscious communication, allowing us to learn from the wisdom of our ancestors, which we can pass on to our own future generations. Listen on Patreon ...

45 - Healing Trauma and Anxiety

Trauma has many sources: combat or confrontation, surgery or injury, death in the family, financial or survival-related struggles, and much more. Trauma is even passed on through generations via our DNA. Many of us carry trauma in our daily lives, which creates anxiety, imbalances our adrenaline, and severely affects our happiness and empathy. In today's meditation, we use a breathing technique -- and specific energetic work within the meditation -- to heal, release, and resolve trauma. Listen on Patreon ...

44 - Developing Discipline

Many of us have goals that we want to achieve in our lives: write a book, lose weight, learn a musical instrument, and so on. However, we may find ourselves lacking the discipline or self-control to start or to finish. We may even talk ourselves out of accomplishing our goals by claiming that 'it is too hard', or 'I don't have time'. In today's meditation we practice developing discipline: the long-term process of reaching our goals, one step and one day at a time. Listen on Patreon ...

When we break free of these doubts, we begin to experience moving forward in our lives, with infinite success in our dreams and ambitions. In today's meditation we release our doubts and fears, to rebuild our self-confidence. Listen on Patreon ...

41 - A Higher Perspective

Mountaineers talk about Higher Peak Syndrome: from the base of the mountain we see a peak off in the distance. We aim toward it, start climbing, reach the peak, and then see another peak -- even higher -- way off in the distance. We all have desires and goals, we all imagine and wish for the future. But what happens when we achieve those desires, goals and wishes ... only to realize it wasn't what we wanted -- or that we're not even halfway there? In today's meditation, we look at our goals and wishes from a higher perspective. Listen on Patreon ...

This can manifest as shyness, sore throat, vocal polyps, even a complete loss of the speaking or singing voice. In today's meditation, we make sound in our bodies, allowing our vocal cords to simply vibrate. Listen on Patreon ...

12 - Peace

Is there someone or something in your life that's driving you crazy? We all experience tension and frustration from time to time, whether it's with a person -- a family member, a co-worker, a spouse, a friend -- or a situation -- like driving to work or waiting in line. Even if that person or situation never changes, it is possible to change the way we experience it. Today's meditation is about creating peace, and allowing that peace to extend beyond ourselves. 11 - The Healing Smile

Today's meditation is the Healing Smile. This is based on a Chinese qigong meditation, which I first learned in Kenneth Meadows' book Shamanic Experience, and which he called the Inward Smile. By directing a smile inward, we send gentle, loving, accepting and healing energy to every organ in our bodies. Listen on Patreon ...

10 - Releasing Fear

As children, we know no fear. We run, we jump, we play, without thinking about any consequences, or being hurt. However, as we grow, we start to experience fear. Things we have heard or seen, or maybe our own personal experience, has left us traumatized and frightened. Most of us want to move forward, build our dreams, but we feel stuck, paralyzed. This meditation helps us break down the walls of fear and move toward our dreams, showing us who we truly are. Listen on Patreon ...

9 - Addiction

There are different ways an addiction can begin. It may start as recreation, medical necessity, relaxation or comfort. Addiction can take the form of food, alcohol, drugs, sex and more. The common thread is the desire to fill a void, especially when situations are beyond our control. Eventually addiction grabs hold in the subconscious mind, and the void becomes a physical dependency. It is possible to break this dependency in the subconscious. In this meditation, the focus will be on releasing the mental hold of addiction, and finding a safe and peaceful place within. Listen on Patreon ...

8 - Transformational Breathing

Anxiety, anger grief and fear are examples of persistent emotional states that linger because of our unwillingness or inability to let go of past experiences. In this episode, we use breath and 'relentless self-acceptance' to help work our way through these states. Listen on Patreon ...

7 - Your Sacred Space

This month's episode is about regeneration in your Sacred Space. We will guide you through a technique that takes you into a sacred place - your own inner sanctum or sacred grove. In this place, you can regenerate your energy, renew your creativity, and gain a new perspective on choices you may have to make. Listen on Patreon ...

6 - Falling Asleep

Many of us have trouble falling asleep. We go to bed tired, but then lie awake fidgeting, or consumed with anxiety. We deprive ourselves of the rest and regeneration we need for healthy, productive lives. This meditation uses a new set of tones, designed to aid the listener in falling asleep, and to experience a deep, peaceful rest. Listen on Patreon ...

5 - Healing Series, Part 2

This meditation is part two of our series on deep-level healing. As we continue to heal our consciousness of past anger, resentment or guilt, we can begin the healing process on a physical level. We can now visualize whole health in the areas of our bodies that have been afflicted with ailments and diseases. It is important to understand that this is not an instant cure, but a process which can be done daily. Listen on Patreon ...

4 - Healing Series, Part 1

This meditation is part One of a series that focuses on deep-level healing. Healing begins in our consciousness. Our mental and emotional states play a big part in our health. It is natural to feel a full range of emotions. However, when we hold onto anger, resentment or guilt, and these feelings are not processed and released, they stagnate within the body, causing illness and dis-ease. This meditation, which can be used daily, can help you process these feelings, and bring about total well being. Listen on Patreon ...

3 - Positive Thoughts

Each of us, whether we realize it or not, abides by a universal law of attraction. What we think about, and talk about, we attract into our lives -- no matter whether we think about wanting it, or not wanting it. Therefore it is very important to think constructively. So rather than saying, 'I don't want to have these health problems anymore,' say 'I'm so glad to be healthy!' or 'I want perfect health.' Instead of trying to get out of debt, try to attain prosperity. Don't anticipate conflict with your loved ones or co-workers -- instead, imagine what it would be like to be in total harmony with them. If you hate war, try loving peace instead. This concept may seem strange at first, but it's a very powerful exercise. When we began doing it, we noticed major changes in every area of our lives. Even if a positive thought or feeling doesn't seem true for you, just try imagining 'what would it be like?' or 'wouldn't it be nice?' Listen on Patreon ...

2 - Calming the Body

This month's podcast is about calming the body. It sends a wave of relaxation from the tips of the toes to the top of the head. This helps us reduce stress, relax the body, and relax the mind as well. And this allows us to go deeper into a meditative state, making us more productive in our lives, and more peaceful in our hearts. Remember that while this podcast uses guided imagery, it also uses sound technology that affects the right and left sides of the brain, to help us enter a deeper state of relaxation and meditation. Thus, it works best with headphones, and should not be listened to while driving. Listen on Patreon ...

1 - A Basic Meditation

In its simplest sense, meditation is sitting still and breathing. You might sit, stand or lie down -- some forms of mediation even involve movement -- but the idea is to break away from habitual movement, such as fidgeting, and the impulse to 'do' something. By focusing on the breath, we focus on the most important aspect of life. We wouldn't survive long without breath, so why not spend a few moments paying attention to our breathing?
